Bishop Ackerman Council #5453 Knights of Columbus will award a scholarship to an outstanding 8th grade student who will attend a Catholic high school in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington Kentucky, beginning in the fall of 2024. This scholarship, which we give annually in the memory of a departed Brother Knight or significant contributor, is for tuition in the amount of $1000 per year, renewable for up to four years (total of up to $4000). Criteria for renewal are contained in the scholarship package. Completed applications must be received or delivered to the Council Office no later than Friday, March 22, 2024. If you are using USPS, please make sure you mail to meet this deadline. Incomplete applications and applications received after Friday, March 22, 2024 will not be considered. The address is in the scholarship packet.
This years scholarship is the Brother Robert F. Greene Memorial Scholarship. Applications must be received by the council on or before Apr 14, 2023. Incomplete applications or late applications will not be considered. If using USPS, please give enough time to be received on or before Apr 14, 2023. Postmark before will not be considered. They must be received by the above dates.
IHM Parish is planning several events to welcome people back to Mass and to help rebuild the community impacted by the pandemic. Sept 18 has a "bring a friend to Mass". Oct 2 will be the grand "reopening" Mass at 5 PM, followed by dedication of the "Wall of Remembrance" with special prayer intentions.
The Bishop Ackerman Council 5453 is accepting scholarship applications for this coming year at this time. All packets must be received on or before 4/16 to be eligible.

The Supreme Council, Knights of Columbus, have launched a new online membership option for prospective members to enroll in the K of C via the internet. Practicing Catholic men who join the Order will form a pool of committed dues-paying members from which councils will recruit. When an online member is ready to join the local council, he must go through the standard admissions process. More information can be found at www.kofc.org/onlinemembership.
The Council earned the prestigious Colombian Award for the fraternal year 2016-17. This award is presented to a Council that has excelled in service programs and the communities they serve.
Brother Eric Ritchie was presented with the 2017 Respect Life Award on behalf of the Kentucky State Council for his efforts in raising funds for two ultrasound machines in one year in northern Kentucky. It is the highest award the State Council bestows for Pro Life. Previous recipients include the Most Rev. Joseph E. Kurtz, Archbishop of Louisville (2008), the late Senator Jim Bunning (2003) and our council Pro-Life Chairman, Bob Greene, in 1999.
